  Most people don't know how much electricity their appliances use.In the age of energy diplomacy and environmental issues, Google has decided to combat global warming by reducing  electricity consumption. Google PowerMeter poduct, will allow one to know their own energy usage information and help them to improve efficiency in a variety of ways.



   To get access to energy information, homes need to be equipped with advanced energy meters called "smart meters.". The first way you'll see this tool in action is through a secure iGoogle gadget that will let one safely and privately browse their home electricity usage. Google PowerMeter is an opt-in service and users must sign up to participate. No personally identifying information will be shared between Google and the user's utility. All energy data received by Google PowerMeter will be stored securely, and users will be able to delete their energy data or ask their utility to stop sending data to Google PowerMeter at any time.Till now, Google PowerMeter is a closed beta program. They are internally testing. They âre working with utility companies and independent device manufacturers to bring  energy information to everyone in several ways,they will roll out Google PowerMeter soon.
